Writing Clubs

Calling all aspiring authors & wordsmiths!
Our bookstore is excited to announce the formation of a brand new writing club designed to foster creativity, offer constructive feedback, and build a supportive community for writers of all levels. Join us on the first Saturday of the month at 9am!
How It Works:
First 30 minutes - Spend quiet time writing. Write something new based on provided prompts or free write for an existing project.
2nd 30 minutes – Participate in a guided conversation about writing, such as individual feedback on pieces from the group, discuss best practices, industry questions, etc.
All writers who are able to work independently are welcome. Though we all hope to learn and become more confident, this is not a formal class. Please reach out with any questions.
Leader:
Old County Bookstore welcomes Melanie Hooks, longtime writing instructor and workshop leader, who relocated from her screenwriting life in Pasadena, California, to her family’s hometown of Crockett in 2023. She has an established audiobook narration career and is excited to meet other local writers, experienced and aspiring alike. She’s currently penning a non-fiction book on classic film and brainstorming her first novel.
